How long will it take to receive my order?

Most Yarn Nerds yarn is hand dyed after your order is placed. Please allow 10 to 14 business days for your yarn to be dyed, washed, dried, twisted, labeled, and prepared for shipping. Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number by email.

Why does it take 10 to 14 business days?

Every skein is hand dyed in small batches by our family in Detroit, Michigan. After dyeing, each skein is washed, dried, twisted, labeled, and inspected before it is carefully packed for shipping. We take pride in making every order with care.

Do you keep yarn in stock?

Some colorways may already be dyed and ready to ship, but most of our yarn is dyed to order.

Will my yarn look exactly like the photos?

Each skein is hand dyed and one of a kind. While we work hard to create consistency, there may be slight variations from skein to skein. This is part of the beauty of hand dyed yarn.

Do you dye custom colors?

No. We do not accept custom color requests.

Every Yarn Nerds colorway is designed and dyed as part of our own collection. This allows us to focus on creating unique colorways and providing the best quality for every order.

Can I request changes to an existing colorway?

No. We do not make changes to existing colorways or create custom versions. Each colorway is dyed as originally designed.

Can I request a rush order?

If you need your order by a certain date, please contact us before placing your order. We will do our best to help, but we cannot guarantee rush orders.

What if a colorway is sold out?

Many colorways will be restocked when possible. Some limited edition colorways may not return once they are sold out.

Do you wind yarn before shipping?

No. All yarn is shipped in hanks. We recommend winding your yarn into a cake before knitting or crocheting.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes! If you are interested in carrying Yarn Nerds in your local yarn shop, please contact us for wholesale information.

Do you ship internationally?

Not at this time. 

What is the Yarn Nerds Society?

The Yarn Nerds Society is our free community for fiber lovers. Members receive early access to new products, exclusive colorways, community events, and other special offers.

What is the Sock Club?

The Yarn Nerds Sock Club is our monthly yarn subscription featuring exclusive Michigan inspired colorways. Subscribers receive a surprise hand dyed skein each month that is only available through the club.

What is your return policy?

Because our yarn is hand dyed to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges unless your order arrives damaged or we made an error. If there is a problem with your order, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will make it right.
