At Yarn Nerds, we believe in the power of crafting to bring people together and create beautiful, handmade creations. Our vision is to inspire and empower knitters, crocheters, weavers, embroiders etc. of all levels with quality yarns, patterns, and tools that they need to bring their projects to life.
How we got started...
Yarn Nerds began as a Saturday craft club founded by Lisa Borum and her three daughters. One weekend, as they bonded over their shared love for crafts, they decided to create a club to explore their creativity further. They named the club Yarn Nerds, reflecting their passion for yarn, knitting and crocheting.
MEET LISA
Hello, my name is Lisa Borum and I am a knitwear designer and owner of Yarn Nerds LLC. I am a wife and mother of 6 beautiful children. With over 22 years knitting, and crocheting. My love affair with knitting began at an early age when I was introduced to the art by a teacher. Since then, I continued to nurture my skills. I have been driven by a strong desire to create and craft, my expertise extends beyond knitting. I am a multi-faceted artisan, self-taught in sewing and crocheting, and hand dying my own brand of yarns. This was the birth of Yarn Nerds. Throughout the challenges of my life, such as periods of bed rest while pregnant with my children, I found solace and purpose in crafting. It's during these moments that my passion for knitting truly blossomed, offering me a creative outlet that brought me lots of comfort and joy.
Fueled by my love for all things yarn, I decided to share my passion with the world and opened the doors to Yarn Nerds, a haven for fellow crafters and aspiring crafters. My vision is to create a space that goes beyond selling yarn; it's a place where a community of like-minded individuals can gather, learn, and foster togetherness. In my shop, you'll find an array of colorful yarns which some are hand dyed by me, an assortment of needles, and a treasure trove of patterns and kits suitable for beginners and advanced crafters alike.

Bella Borum, 10 years old, is the youngest girl of the Borum family and an emerging crafter at Yarn Nerds. Bella's passion for knitting began at a young age, inspired by her family's love for crafting. Bella Merino Yarn is named after her.

BORUM GIRLS
A day hanging out in our pjs and teaching some crochet skills. I have taught my 3 girls how to sew, crochet and knit. I enjoy teaching the next generation.

"We get to test out what it's like to run an actual storefront, a brick and mortar," said Lisa Borum.
Borum is the woman behind the shop Yarn Nerds.
